Madison, WI— The Madison Capitols announced on Thursday that they have acquired forward Alexandre Payusov from the Sioux City Musketeers in exchange for Capitols’ affiliate player Connor Ford.
The 17-year-old native of LaSalle, Quebec played in 47 games for Sioux City in the 2014-15 USHL season, tallying three goals and seven assists in that time.
Payusov was a second-round draft selection by then-Musketeers general manager Luke Strand in the 2014 USHL Draft.
Now the Capitols’ head coach and general manager, Strand was excited to re-acquire one of his own draft picks.
“Alexandre has elite skating and offensive sense,” said Strand. “With a year of experience on a deep Sioux City team, we look forward to utilizing his assets. He instantly gives us experienced depth up front while still not even being 18 years of age.”
With many of the Capitols’ 2014-15 roster members eligible to return in 2015-16, Madison could return up to 300 points worth of production in the 2015-16 USHL season.
In another draft week roster move, the Capitols also moved forward Hunter Luhmann to the Waterloo Black Hawks in exchange for a draft selection, which ended up being forward Luke Millen, the son of longtime NHL forward Corey Millen. The 16-year-old spent last season with the Colorado Rampage program.
