The Madison Capitols capture two out of three Week 29 USHL Player of the Week honors with blueliner Luke Mittelstadt and netminder Simon Latkoczy.

The duo are no strangers to the award list as this will be Mittelstadt's third time winning Defenseman of the Week and Latkoczy's second time for Goaltender of the Week.

The Minnesota commit played a big role in Saturday night's victory over Cedar Rapids. Mittelstadt tallied a pair of assists on the Caps first two goals and buried his 13th power play goal of the season in the 3rd period, bringing his season total to 19 lamp lighters. It was the 6th time the Eden Prairie, Minnesota native has scored three or more points in a game this season. Mittelstadt has appeared in all 60 games for the Caps during the 2021-22 campaign. His 55 points ranks second among USHL blueliners while his 19 goals is good for third in the league for defensemen. Mittelstadt’s 19 goals this season is tied for the third-best mark among defensemen in a single USHL season during the Tier I era.

Trencin, Slovakia native Simon Latkoczy had himself a weekend allowing just one goal in 120:19 played. Stopping 23 shots in Friday night's contest against Cedar Rapids, the lone goal the Omaha commit gave up was a rebound goal 19 seconds into the overtime period. Latkoczy followed up that performance on Saturday with a 31-save shutout in a 4-0 victory over Cedar Rapids for his second shutout of the season. Latkoczy improved to 22-16-3 after last weekend's performances. It was the 12th and 13th time he's held an opponent to under two-or-fewer goals. He has set new career-highs for wins (22), games played (41), minutes played (2,364), shutouts (2) and saves (1,017) this season.

This the 6th and 7th time this season a Capitols player has garnered USHL Player of the Week Honors setting a new franchise record. Simon Latkoczy - Week 3 GOTW, Luke Mittelstadt - Week 5 DOTW, Blake Dangos - Week 16 DOTW, Luke Mittelstadt - Week 20 DOTW, Quinn Finley - Week 25 FOTW.
