After a three-point weekend against Cedar Rapids, the United States Hockey League announced today that Caps blueliner, Blake Dangos, is the Week 16 Defenseman of the Week.
Dangos tallied three assists in two games last weekend. The Arizona State commit assisted on the go-ahead goal in Friday's 5-2 road victory against the Rough Riders. The following night, Dangos registered his first multi-point game of the season with a pair of helpers in the series finale with Cedar Rapids. Dangos' first assist of the night came on the game tying goal late in the 2nd period scored by Madison forward Brendan Lamb. 70 seconds into the 3rd period, Tyler Haskins scored what would go on to be the game winning goal and the St. Louis native had a hand in that one as well.
In 31 games played this season, the Week 16 Defenseman of the Week has totaled 16 points - 2 goals and 14 assists.
Dangos' Defenseman of the Week accolade is the third time this season a Capitols Player has garnered Player of the Week honors. The Caps blueliner joins netminder Simon Latkoczy (Week 3) and defenseman Luke Mittelstadt (Week 5) to earn USHL Player of the Week distinction.
