Middleton, WI – The Madison Capitols have made their third trade in the past two days with the Tri-City Storm. This one brings forward Asa Kinnear to the Capitols in exchange for a 3rd round pick in the 2020 USHL Phase II draft taking place on Tuesday.
“Asa will have a tremendous impact on our organization,” exclaims head coach Tom Upton. “He has won an Anderson Cup in this league, and we look forward to him helping us create a winning culture in Madison. He adds veteran experience to our roster, and we have high expectations for his performance on the ice and as a leader in our locker room.”
Kinnear joins the Capitols following two seasons with the Storm where he posted 16 points (5+11=16) over 82 games. The native of Anchorage, Alaska was drafted in the 2nd round (32nd overall) to Tri-City in the 2018 USHL Entry Draft.
The 5-foot-10, 176-pound center should be slotted into a spot where he can make an immediate impact for Madison this season. Kinnear is committed to St. Cloud State, where he is expected to go in after the season.
Kinnear will join a new crop of talent on this year’s team during the Phase II USHL draft on Tuesday, 5th.
