6 Returners Highlight Protected List

Middleton, WI – The Madison Capitols have announced their 30-man protected list for the 2019-20 season, as well as the affiliate list for the future.

The players will report to camp beginning this Tuesday, September 3rd, and compete for spots on the 23 man roster that will be due September 23rd at 12pm. The protected list features six returning players in Carson Bantle, Skylar Gutierrez, Garrett Mackay, Reid Pabich, Kristof Papp, and Branden Suter.

Seven of last year’s affiliates have also moved onto the 30-man roster. The rest of the 30-man list is filled out with draft picks and trades, with five other players having USHL experience. A familiar name people may recognize that was not on the team last year is Verners Egle, who spent last season with the Dubuque Fighting Saints, but returns to Madison this season.

All 30-men on the list will get to prove to the staff throughout practices, as well as their four preseason games that they have what it takes this season.

The Capitols kick off their preseason schedule on Sunday, September 15th in Waterloo against the Black Hawks before hosting Waterloo on Tuesday, September 17th. The final two games will take place on Friday and Saturday, September 20th and 21st where they will take on the Chicago Steel, first on the road, then at home.

Following the cut to the 23-man roster, the Capitols will kick off the regular season on Thursday, September 26th at 12pm CT when they take on the Omaha Lancers at the 2019 DICK’S Sports Goods USHL Fall Classic.
