Capitols Release 2014-15 Season Schedule

Madison unveils new schedule; will host home opener Oct. 18

Madison, WI The Madison Capitols unveiled their 2014-15 season schedule on Tuesday after the USHL approved the full schedule for the league’s upcoming season.

The Capitols will start off their quest for the Clark Cup on the road against the Muskegon Lumberjacks on September 27. They will debut on home ice at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Saturday, October 18 at 7:05 p.m. CT.

The Capitols’ schedule features no conflicts with University of Wisconsin or Green Bay Packers football home games. In total, the Capitols will host 15 other USHL clubs at the Alliant Energy Center.

The Capitols will welcome in-state rival Green Bay to the Coliseum for the first time on Friday, November 14 at 7:05 p.m. CT. That game marks the first of four consecutive games for Madison against the Gamblers, three of which will take place in Madison. The Capitols and Gamblers will meet eight times in total during the 2014-15 season, all of them taking place before New Year’s Day.

The defending Anderson Cup champion Waterloo Black Hawks will visit Madison for their only appearance on Friday, February 6 at 7:05 p.m. CT.

Madison will also host a two-game weekend set against USA Hockey’s U-18 Development Program on February 20-21. The U.S. NTDP has produced numerous NHL draft picks and Olympians, including three selections in the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft.

In total, the Capitols will host 13 Friday night contests, as well as 9 Saturday night games for a total of 22 Fridays and Saturdays. Additionally, the Capitols will hold $1 beer nights on various Friday nights throughout the season.
